Natural Homemade Brown Sugar Scrub

I LOVE baths.  I’m a bath product junkie, actually a sucker for any spa product with great packaging.  But what I love the most are natural, homemade products that I can make with a few ingredients in my own kitchen — products that are nourishing for my body and so delicious that I could eat them.

This simple recipe for a Brown Sugar Scrub is a fantastic body exfoliant that I make all the time for myself and for gifts.  I prefer it to salt scrubs that can irritate your skin and cause some stinging. This healthy scrub will leave your skin silky smooth and gorgeous. Try it!

The Homemade Brown Sugar Scrub

  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar (or Trader Joe’s Turbinado Raw Cane Sugar)
  • 1/2 Cup Almond Oil or Grapeseed Oil
  • 1 tsp Vitamin E (squeeze 2 Vitamin E liquid gel caps)
  • 1 tsp pure Vanilla Extract*
  • 2 tsp honey

Mix everything together and pour it into a glass jar wide enough to get your hand in to scoop some out. Head to the bath tub and enjoy!

*The vanilla is used for the sensual benefit of aromatherapy. Depending on your mood, you can always substitute the vanilla for an essential oil, such as lavender (for calming), peppermint (for energizing), eucalyptus (for clarity), or cinnamon or clove (for warmth).
