How to Beat the Heat in Seconds

Although it’s a lovely 68 degrees here in Santa Barbara, I know that a good part of the country is sweltering right now in 90-
plus temperatures with full humidity.  I just came back from New York where the streets were starting to melt and I realize that I finished off a whole bottle of my favorite “beat-the-heat” secret — Caudalie’s Eau de Beaute.

Just so you know, I’m not being paid to endorse this product!  That said, I swear it’s the only thing that perks me up when it’s really hot and sticky out and I feel like all I want to do is lie down. This spray is a refreshing blend of grape, rosemary, orange blossom, rose, myrrh and organic balm mint that really wakes you up.  It comes in a handy purse-size bottle that you can take everywhere, even on planes.

Caudalie says that Eau de Beaute is “inspired by the centuries old ‘elixer of youth’ used by Queen Isabelle of Hungary.”  I just like it because not only does it perk me up and leave my skin glowing, they say it’s a toner and serum at the same time.  You can find it at Sephora and at other retailers.

If you don’t have the time to hunt this fabulous product down, I suggest making some yourself.  Just get a glass spray bottle (I like the 4 oz. purse-size) and fill it almost to the top with filtered water.  Add a few drops of spearmint oil or whichever minty or refreshing oil you have on hand.  I usually add a few drops of geranium and rosemary to layer the fragrance.  Shake it up, close your eyes, and spray.

INSTANT COOL!!
